Having the rainy day blues? People associate the beach with sunshine and blue skies, sometimes a rainy day will creep up. Fortunately, Amelia Island boasts many places and activities to make even the stormiest day enjoyable. Covered porches at the Inn and the library are perfect places to curl up with a book and a glass of tea on a rainy day but if you want to venture out, here are some options.

Shady Ladies Art Studios

You have to make sure to visit the Shady Ladies Art Studio on your Amelia Island visit. Located at 432 B South 8th Street, Fernandina, The Shady Ladies is composed of artists Linda Green, Amy Baker, Mary Libby, Lisa Inglis, and Susan Ryan. Upcoming show themes will include: “I Love This Place” for August, “As Time Goes By” for September, “All Our Best” for October, “Instruments and Musicians” for November, and “Holiday Market” for December. The Amelia Island Museum of History

On your Amelia Island visit, carve out an afternoon to see the Amelia Island Museum of History. This museum boasts tours and an interactive children's center. The current showcase exhibit is “It Came from the Attic: Fossils” which displays and teaches about many fossils of animals and creatures that once inhabited the area. Fernandina Beach Pinball Museum

For an eclectic, hands-on museum experience, visit the Pinball Museum. For a full experience, patrons get to play vintage and modern pinball games. The Pinball Museum is open Wednesday-Friday 3-8 p.m., Saturday noon-9 p.m., and Sunday noon-6 p.m. For more information visit

The Cinnamon Bear Country Store
Find the perfect Amelia Island souvenir at the Cinnamon Bear. The Book Loft Bookstore

This old fashioned bookstore is two stories filled with new releases, local authors, and old favorites.  Relax in the store to read or buy a book and head back to the Inn to enjoy!  The store is located at 214 North Centre, Fernandina.
